Hello and happy Tuesday everybody, I hope you enjoyed your memorial day weekend, it’s Tyler Henry, back with another KINA Sports Update presented by Salina Regional Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.

Over the weekend this year’s KSHSAA state track meet came to a close, and several of our area athletes earned the top spot in their respective classes.
Katelyn Rupe of Central and Elyssa Frieze of Chapman each defended their titles in the 3200, Judah Bowell of Abilene swept the 110 and 300m hurdles, Tate Nurnberg of SES won both the high jump and triple jump in Class 3A, Haley Litzinger of Chapman claimed the top spot in the 100 m dash and Jordan Bartlett of Bennington won the 2A girls Javelin.

This weekend was also a triumphant one for the Salina Liberty, who routed the Regulators by a final score of 54-25.
Tracy Brooks tallied two touchdowns as did the Liberty defense as the red white and blue move to 3-1.
Salina will be back in action this Sunday when they travel to Southwest Kansas, that game can be heard right here on KINA.

And finally, some sad news as Bill Walton, 2x NBA Champion, Hall of Famer, and broadcast legend passed away on Sunday following a prolonged battle with cancer, Walton was 71 years old.
