On Thursday, KSHSAA’s executive board approved changes to postseason formats and championship sites for basketball, football, wrestling and track and field.
Beginning in March of 2026, the state basketball tournaments will be moving to four total sites. Four facilities will play host to the seven classifications, and 14 championships
Another basketball postseason change will see classes 1-3A divided into four regions and then seeded into two sub-states within the region
On the gridiron, the state football championships will be moving to three sites with three games being played at each site
And in track and field news qualification for the state meet was adjusted to now be the top 3 plus the next four best regional performance in each event.

Thursday also saw a big victory for the Kansas City Royals as Maikel Garcia hit a game-ending two run double off Yankees closer Clay Holmes to help the Royals beat the Yankees 4-3. Things won’t get any easier for the Royals who play the Dodgers tonight at 9:00
