Big news out of Southeast of Saline broke on Thursday as it was announced that both spring sport coaching vacancies have now been filled.

On the baseball diamond Chance Ptacek, will be taking over as head coach of a Trojan program that went 14-10 last season.

Ptacek will continue serving in both of his other roles as assistant football coach and teacher at SES

On the softball diamond the Lady Trojans made another great hire in Tyler Smith, who will also continuing teaching and coaching football at Salina South.

Last year the SES softball program fiished 21-3 with a trip to the state tournament in Topeka

Elsewhere In conjunction with Major League Baseball, the Royals today announced their 33-game exhibition schedule for 2025. Game times will be announced at a later date.

The Royals will begin their 23rd season in the Cactus League on Friday, Feb. 21 as the home team against the Texas Rangers at Surprise Stadium. Kansas City’s schedule features 15 home games at Surprise Stadium, plus 3 games as the visiting team against the Rangers on Feb. 25, March 8 and March 22.
