The cat is finally out of the bag as the full schedule for the 2024 WPT World Championship at the Wynn has been released, and there is a lot to get excited about.
Crowning the 2024 World Poker Tour season, the December festival will feature over 60 individual events (including satellites), offering a good balance of different poker formats and variations.
There are two big changes compared to 2023. The $10,400 Championship doesn’t have a guarantee this time around. However, players will have an opportunity to take part in a $5,000,000 freeroll taking place on ClubWPT Gold, a newly-announced sweepstakes poker site.
Beyond this, there is also more on offer for fans of mixed games, and the range of buy-ins is such that all who visit the Wynn in December, including freeroll participants, should have no problems finding at least a few tournaments to fit their budgets.
Big Schedule Set in a Short Timeframe
The WPT World Championship is taking place December 3 — 23, so the entire tournament schedule will be taking place over the span of 20 days. While this feels a bit crammed, the combined experience of organizers at the WPT and the Wynn offer enough reassurances that things will go down without any mishaps.
The action will get underway with a big No Limit Hold’em tournament offering a $1,000,000 guarantee for a buy-in of just $800.
The first of several marquee events is the WPT Prime Championship, which kicks off on December 8 and wraps up on December 14. The event features a $1,100 buy-in and a big $5,000,000 guarantee, which was more than doubled the last year.
We could have a similar scenario on our hands this year, as the ClubWPT Gold Invitational Freeroll will help boost the numbers. The freeroll, which takes place December 13 — 15, offers a $5,000,000 prize pool, $1,000,000 for the winner, and 100 seats in the $10,400 Championship event. You can find more details about the event and how you can get involved in our article on the launch of ClubWPT Gold.
The WPT World Championship kicks off on December 14. The organizers decided not to attach a guarantee to the tournament this time around (last year’s event featured a record-breaking $40M guarantee), but with everything else happening around it, the Championship should still have big attendance.
Beyond these marquee tournaments, there is a great mix of formats, variations, and buy-ins across the schedule. There are quite a few tournaments with buy-ins under $1,000 and close to 20 non-Hold’em events. Of course, popular PKOs and Mystery Bounties are in the mix as well.

Variety of Qualifiers Running Around the Clock
In addition to the main schedule, there will be various qualifiers running pretty much around the clock at the Wynn, giving players a chance to punch their tickets to bigger buy-in events at a discount.
Like the last year, most satellites will feature the milestone format where players need to accumulate a certain number of chips to qualify. A majority of them feature a $400 buy-in, and Double Play Milestone Satellites dominate the schedule, offering players a chance to turn that $400 buy-in into two $1,100 main tournament entries.
Satellites for the WPT World Championship kick in on December 11, with a buy-in of $1,100. As already mentioned, 100 players will win their Championship tickets through the ClubWPT Gold Invitational Freeroll without spending a single cent for the seat.
It is safe to assume that the freeroll will give out a bunch of seats to other tournaments as well and we should have more information about it in the weeks to come.
All in all, the 2024 WPT World Championship schedule ticks all the boxes and offers opportunities for all players, so it should be a very exciting December in Las Vegas.
